With less than (I've had to change this so many times it's taken me so long to write a new post!) 2 weeks until my due date I'm starting to think about the new babies room! Yes it's cutting it a bit fine, I guess I had better make it look like I'm getting ready to nest and feel a bit more in control of what's about to happen! No doubt I will be spending a lot of time in there feeding and sleeping with the new bubba, very exciting! It's our spare room so the plan is to keep it multifunctional with a double bed in there for as long as possible. I will probably start with a 'baby corner' - a small cot with some shelves and pictures above it (before and after pics to follow...).
Having looked online at ideas for nurseries and kids rooms there are some great ideas out there, across a range of budgets. I'm trying to keep it relatively gender neutral, even though I know I'm having a girl, as a pink themed room scares me! These are a few of my top finds, now I just need to quickly decide which one to go for...
1. Set of 3 House Box shelves by Bloomingville from White Punch, £89. We also love the Ferm Living ones with the coloured backs found here
2. Tall Metal Magazine/ Book display shelf by Sass & Belle from This Modern Life, £23. A nice way to display favourite books with a vintage look
3. House Shelf by H&M, £14.99. A bargain but also a blatant rip off of the more expensive Ferm living dorm shelves that have become such a design classic :)
4. Pastel Ledge Shelves by Sass & Belle, £7 each. Lovely for leaning prints against. Ikea also do some great inexpensive picture ledges here for a bargain price of £4.50. Definitely a great budget option
5. Set of 3 shelves by Rose in April from Molly Meg. £69. They also sell single shelves at £39 each and come in a gorgeous selection of colours. String also have a design classic here in the String Pocket that I always lust after and is currently reduced to £93 from Twenty Twenty One
6. Shelf and Wall Stickers by Tresxics from This Modern Life, £35. Love this woodland theme with mountains and trees
7. Box Shelf by Ikea, £17. Comes in a few colours, rest pictures on the top and fill the inside with those nicer toys you want to display
8. Spice Rack by Ikea, £3 each. A complete bargain and if i had more time and energy I would buy these and paint them as done in this image taken from brilliant blog Bondville. I also love the way she has attached them to a pegboard, another great bedroom feature, they have some lovely kids room ideas. These spice racks also look great hung the other way - so you could hang clothes off them too.
The other issue following Christmas is the ridiculous amount of crap, sorry kids plastic, that is filling our fifty shades of grey and white house. Toy storage that doesn't look like toy storage is in desperate need to hide all evidence that a child actually lives in our home. Here are my top finds for nice storage....we ended up buying two of the black & white stripy bags...
1. Paper Storage Bag by Kolor from Little Goldie, £6.50 each. Reinforced to make sure it's extra strong!
2. Stripe Storage Laundry Bag by House Doctor from House Envy, £12. We have these and they are a great size, great price. They also do a smaller size and different patterns

4. Playmat Storage Bag by Play & Go from This Modern Life, £26. A quick drawstring pull up makes this a quick and easy solution to tidying up mess
