Christmas is coming, there’s no escaping it… the countdown is on! It’s a period that I like to embrace ‘dress up’, feel special and glamorous but still comfortable (with room for feasting!). I wanted to do an edit of some fab dresses I feel would work well over the festive period (and beyond!) mostly from smaller and independent brands. So whether you like a touch of red or tartan or like to go full on glam there is something here for you hopefully! So will you be teaming yours with slippers or heels?!

Justine Tabak makes vintage inspired shapes that are versatile, comfortable and very easy to wear. Made in the UK with British sourced and often deadstock fabrics. I’m particularly drawn to the pretty tartans and checks, these are seasonless styles that will work all year round so a good investment too.
Tallulah & Hope offer super feminine shapes in plenty of wearable prints and embroideries. Heavy velvets and cords help add structure and interest to their latest range. Plenty of styles to pick from for all body shapes that will make you feel wow on the big day and beyond.
Cabbages & Roses is an independent family run business and I am absolutely besotted with their quintessentially British aesthetic. Their unique and timeless styles play on a slightly more quirky look and these romantic tartan check styles have captured my heart.
Ganni is my go to brand for dresses these days and they have a strong choice of dress shapes that they repeat every season updating prints, fabrics and colours. These two ruffley dresses are fun and playful.
Kemi Telford deliver big time on print, bold colour and joyful dresses! Her shapes are always so easy, oversized and comfy and I’m pleased she has been doing some checks recently too. The perfect dresses for celebrating life all year round!
Johanna Sands makes all her dresses herself in small, limited edition runs by hand and they are like gold dust to get your hands on! I’m always so impressed by her fabrics and her colour choices are in just the prettiest feminine palette. These pink cord and velvet bow numbers are top of my wishlist.
Molly The Label is a handmade small independent fashion brand I have recently discovered via Instagram. I’m drawn to the big collars and playful checks and tartans she uses.
Luxury British brand Halfpenny London has a collection aimed at bridesmaids called ‘Sister’ but the dresses are most definitely versatile enough to be worn on any smart occasion. Strong colours in showstopper feminine shapes - if you really want to go the full hog this Christmas then this is the brand to really dress up in!
Dilli Grey is my go to for boho, seventies inspired dresses. The Ginnie and Bianca dress shapes are so comfortable to wear whilst making you feel special and supporting artisans in India.
Omi Na-Na is the place to check out for an ethically made statement and unique dress. A beautiful curation of designer dresses from brands such as Loom Art, Pozruh and Jodi that all support craftsmanship, ethical production and sustainability at their core.
Pretty pleats and ruffles in velvet and baby cord by Seraphina London. Timeless styles in rich colours that will make you feel really special on Christmas Day.
Sika make show stopping designs in Ghana in beautiful batik cotton statement prints. These styles always stop me in my tracks. These red stripes are so much fun for the festive period.
If Liberty print, heritage and vintage inspired silhouettes get your pulse racing like mine then O Pioneers is the brand for you! All dresses are exquisitely made by local seamstresses to create the ultimate ‘modern day feminine cool‘ that will be in your wardrobe for years to come.
