Four Autumn School Run Outfit Ideas

With the new term here, new school run outfits are needed (well wanted!). I recently pulled together a few different looks which work well for more casual everyday wear. As always it is worth investing in some classic pieces such as a Utility/ Surplus style khaki jacket as they work with dresses and jeans and will be your transitional best friend. A leather jacket is always worth spending money on if you want it to last the test of time, stick to classic black biker styles which never date (I think Whistles and All Saints make the best High Street ones), wear now over dresses and over knitwear on cold days. White trainers (Veja, Stan Smiths and Grace and Air make good ones) and a decent pair of flat boots and loafers will also make up the core of your casual wardrobe. A few basics like a stripe tee, rollneck (found this awesome leopard print one here) and a cross body bag (M&S, Caroline Gardner and Boden make good ones) will also be well used. Then it’s just a case of finding some good bottoms (always a challenge) and skirts to mix and match into some throw on outfits, ta da making your life much easier and always stylish :)

Outfit 1

These Hush trousers were such a good find! The perfect hybrid of jogger and trouser and very comfy whilst not looking like you have your running gear on. I have teamed with a knit and utility jacket but a parka would work on colder days too.

Outfit 2

Pleated skirts are not going away and this one is very comfy as it has an elastic waist and can be dressed up with heels or down with trainers or biker boots. This look would work with a leopard print skirt, in fact any pleated skirt too.

Outfit 3

A blazer is a great way to smarten up a pair of jeans and make you feel a bit more pulled together. Team with Mom or Boyfriend jeans and a colourful knit. The blazer above (which is jersey so lots of stretch) is not currently online so I’ve listed an alternative one below. (Update -Jersey blazer can be found here.)

Outfit 4

An oversized relaxed fit dress always works well with a leather biker style, utility or denim jacket over the top. The dress can be made more weather appropriate on cool days by layering with a rollneck and tights. Team with trainers, loafers or ankle boots and you’re good to go. My jacket above is Madewell but I have listed a cheaper alternative below.
